The Schools, a place to learn...

Gilbert Unified School District (GUSD)
The Gilbert Unified School District has long been recognized as one of the top districts in the state for its academic achievement. Twenty-four GPS schools were named Excelling Schools by the Arizona Department of Education in October. Labels are based on student performance on state tests and graduation and dropout rates. All GPS schools have successfully met or exceeded state standards.

In addition to academics, athletic and extra-curricular activities are considered an important part of the high school and junior high school experience. GUSD is well known for its comprehensive programs that provide students the opportunities to enhance both their physical and social development.

In all it does, the GUSD continues to maintain, "Commitment and Dedication to Quality Education." Gilbert's supportive, proactive community plays a major role in helping its young people realize the meaningful success for which they are known.

Schools Serving the Morrison Ranch Community
Two community elementary schools proposed within Morrison Ranch-strategically located on the greenbelt to ensure safe, pedestrian access for the community's smallest residents-look forward to welcoming students in the near future (timing to be determined by the GUSD). Until these schools open their doors, children will attend one of the exemplary elementary schools located just beyond the Ranch, including the Highland Park Elementary and Greenfield Elementary schools. These elementary schools, as well as Greenfield Junior High, Highland Junior High, and Highland High School, are still easily accessible on foot or bike via Gilbert's extensive trail system, which joins the paths and trails of Morrison Ranch in several locations.

Gilbert's Charter and Private Schools
In addition to the award-winning schools comprising the Gilbert Unified School District, the Town of Gilbert is proud to offer its residents a variety of charter and private schools from which to choose. A complete list of the more than 225 charter and private schools in the greater Phoenix area-including those in Gilbert-can be found in "The Education Book 2001" (a directory available for a nominal fee at the following retailers: Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Bookstar).
